Become an AdvocateCurrent Challenges in Disaster Preparedness:
Disasters can strike unexpectedly at any time. The Empowering Resilience: Inclusive Disaster Preparedness for People with Disabilities session will equip attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to ensure the safety, well-being, and resilience of people living with disabilities before, during, and after a disaster. Panelists will discuss the importance of a disaster preparedness plan that is inclusive and prioritizes the safety and well-being of all individuals, regardless of ability.
Outdoors for Everyone: Exploring Accessibility and Inclusivity in the Great Outdoors
While the beauty of nature is a universal right, achieving accessibility in the great outdoors is often challenging. From unpaved paths, eroding trails, and lack of resources, people with disabilities are deterred from outdoor experiences. Our goal is to amend that. The panel experts are committed to raising awareness, addressing the preventable limitations for those impacted by paralysis, and advancing outdoor equity to create a new kind of adventure.
The above listed breakout sessions are just a sampling of the presentations that will be featured at the annual Reeve Summit. Other topics include outdoor accessibility, research, change at the federal and state levels, combating racism and ableism, supporting gun violence survivors, and technology and disability. Actionable strategies, valuable insights, collaborations, and a commitment to change are all common themes threaded within each of the breakout sessions.
