Reeve Foundation Releases Sixth Edition of Paralysis Resource Guide

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation recently published the sixth edition of the Paralysis Resource Guide (PRG), a free 392-page book designed to help individuals living with paralysis pursue healthy, fulfilling lives.

PRG cover

Since 2003, the National Paralysis Resource Center has distributed more than 231,000 copies of the PRG to people across the U.S. and around the world. The guide not only provides a critical roadmap for families adapting to life after new spinal cord injuries but also offers resources for paralysis stemming from disease or congenital conditions, including stroke, spina bifida, and transverse myelitis.

Comprehensive summaries of medical and health-related topics such as skin care, bladder management, autonomic dysreflexia, and sexual health and fertility are featured alongside sections tackling quality-of-life subjects including traveling, adaptive sports, employment, and disability benefits.

The latest edition features a significantly expanded children’s chapter, including new sections on nutrition, bullying, and higher education. Updates to the spinal cord injury chapter provide clear explanations of the latest research and treatment targets to help families better understand the science driving progress. Throughout the book, an array of community profiles capture the diverse experiences of people of all ages living with paralysis; new profiles feature travel blogger Cory Lee, student-athlete Brandon Louie, and author and caregiver Abby Banks.
